Out of the Mouths of the 1 Percent of the 1 Percent by V.Lyn

If you ever had any doubt about what the 1 percent of the 1 percent truly think about the umm umm now how did one of Romneys attendees at his East Hampton fundraiser say the “common person” think, oh yes that “we don’t get it”. I gather some how that people who are not wealthy are just not smart enough to understand complex concepts such as, can you put food on the table for your family and a roof over their head or what happens when your child is ill with perhaps a birth defect and now the insurance company will not cover them. Now with mounting medical bills you lose the home you were barely keeping in this economic downturn and all your equity and therefore wealth goes with it. Or perhaps the person doesn’t get it that the republicans are willing to have the student loan interest rate go up on their college kids who are trying to be a contributing member of American society and their parents are struggling to give their child a better education so that they can do and have better than they had. Or maybe the common people don’t get it when the ultra rich, that 1 percent of the 1 percent, the David Koch’s are refusing to create jobs, because then the President, the black President will look good and maybe get re-elected and we can’t have that “nigga” in the office changing the face of the status quo, so instead the David Koch’s of America sit on nearly 3 TRILLION dollars of profit with the BOGUS excuse that they are afraid to invest in uncertain economic times. UNCERTAIN economic times that they are doing their best to keep uncertain…they think that we “common people” are too ignorant to know that companies have found a better operating procedure that they can outsource jobs cheaply, lay off American workers, and reap better profits. They think that we don’t understand, the American worker, that companies see it in their interest to sit patiently on all that money instead of helping to stimulate the economy.

They think that as one female East Hampton attendee believes we haven’t seen the writing on the wall or as she says “We’ve got the message,” … “But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies — everybody who’s got the right to vote — they don’t understand what’s going on. I just think if you’re lower income — one, you’re not as educated, two, they don’t understand how it works, they don’t understand how the systems work, they don’t understand the impact.” And while all of those who attended this Romney function don’t have their heads up their ass, some are said to be disappointed Obama voters, who thought that something magic was going to happen instead of something MAGICAL. Magic is supernatural- Magical is wonderous, mythical and that did happen. President Obama gave HOPE TO not just a generation but people all over the world, hope of possibility, of a world that inherently strives to be just… that is whats’ so magical of the Presidency of Barack Hussein Obama… it told the story of every person in this nation and every person around the globe…it told the story of acceptance and hop, of yes commonness, and how the common is often exceptional if one bothers to look.  And exceptional is not an impossible standard or an ideal that can never be obtained. It is to bad that those disaffected prior Obama supporters didn’t realize that he was not a magician who can wave a magic wand but a man that wants the best for his country and is enacting policies for the betterment of ALL AMERICAN. And wields something far more powerful than a wand…intelligence.

Unfortunately the Repubs vision of America is one that will ultimately disaffected all Americans who are not in that lofty echelon of 1 percent of the 1 percenters, millionaires most of you are not remotely in their class. You too are the common folk to the Romney crowd. And therefore as the above women stated less intelligent…she said less educated and therefore she could not possibly have been implying less intelligent. Could she?

Yes. Since we are  common folks the fact that we haven’t been born into wealthy and had that extensive network of profitable and connected family friends or those of Ivy league college alumni or that we weren’t lucky, or unscrupulous, or made wealth on the backs of African American slaves who children you bred and then sold as little more than chattel, or stole the land that you sold or built your wealth on from the Native Americans that you committed genocide against and then relegated to reservations, or the sweat and blood of the Irish, Polish, Chinese, Russian and latino and every other immigrant. Those common folks who built this Countries infrastructure, railroads, highways, shipyards, oil fields for this nation that allows you to move your great wealth around. Perhaps we weren’t so luck to have the means to challenge our moral parsimony to see whether we would create conflicts around the world in order to amass great wealth on the bodies and running blood of the indigenous people around the world. Arming children in Africa and other locals around the world with assault weapons in diamond, platinum, base metals, chrome ore and manganese ore, and the second-largest reserves of zirconium, vanadium and titanium mines.

Perhaps us common people who are less educated…you know the ones with GED, or who graduated high school, or with bachelors, masters, doctorates, you know those who challenge themselves everyday, who want to learn more, inspire others, or just plan work hard, you know that man who is a soldier and serves the country for so far fetched concept of loyalty and patriotism who goes to war as his or her family struggles stateside but feels foolishly honored because the person they love has honor and a grand sense of what country and duty means, he must certainly be to ignorant in the eyes of Romneys illustrious well heeled friends, you know that soldier who puts his life on the line for you and me. He is no better than that police officer who leaves the house not knowing if he or she will come home so that we can be safe and the rich man and woman can close their eyes between the finest of sheets with a knowing that the wolf is far from their door. Just like that fireman or firewoman who runs into the flames as everyone runs in the opposite direction. You know we are all ignorant otherwise why have we not created great wealth…stupid scientist, stupid doctor, stupid manicurist, stupid teacher, stupid coal miner, stupid cow poke…stupid stupid people who struggle daily to teach their children to not only be good children but to be great people.

How ignorant and foolish we must be to not understand the impact that the deficit will have on our lives, or the ACA aka Obama care, how stupid can we be that we don’t want preëxisting diseases covered, or that we don’t want a refund at the end of the year from our insurance companies, how stupid must they think we are if they believe that we would not want to help our young adult kids to be covered, how stupid must they think we are if they believe that we know that those people who are uninsured that debt is already passed on to us any time they seek care in an emergency room and now they will foot their OWN BILL. How stupid and ignorant they must believe we are.

Well I may be common..but I am far from stupid…success in my book is not merely the destination but how you travel that path. Economically I may not be what they consider or anyone else would consider a success, but I have a beautiful family, who love me and I love them, we are doctors, teachers, publishers, construction workers, TV commentator, novelist, nurses, car sales people, and the list goes on…I have an IQ of 130 and I would bet that many in my family could say the same if not higher. So perhaps I am common and that would be all right by me because what I have seen and read of those Ivory Towered 1 percenters of the 1 percent well they are the ones who just don’t get it and tend towards being bush-league.

On August 28th 2008 then Senator Barack Hussein Obama said in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention
“This country is more decent than one where a woman in Ohio, on the brink of retirement, finds herself one illness away from disaster after a lifetime of hard work.

This country is more generous than one where a man in Indiana has to pack up the equipment he’s worked on for twenty years and watch it shipped off to China, and then chokes up as he explains how he felt like a failure when he went home to tell his family the news.

We are more compassionate than a government that lets veterans sleep on our streets and families slide into poverty; that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns before our eyes.”

I say that those words are as true today as they were then and while the President of the United States Barack Obama has accomplished much against a HOSTILE political body there is much to do. While the path is not always easy the destination is known but may never be reached but he is journeying well, with integrity and honor and that is the true measure of a man…not always were you arrive but how you travel. how well you treat others on the path, how well will you adapt and confront those obstacles on your path. Romney would call a cab and take a short cut running down the common people all the way.
