Protest thru the AGE OF AMERICA
This passage is reported to be a quote by Abraham Lincoln
“We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end.
It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood. . . .
It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but
I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes
me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war,
corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places
will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong
its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth
is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.
I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety
of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war.
God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless.”
The passage appears in a letter from Lincoln to (Col.) William F. Elkins, Nov. 21, 1864.
The Native Americans were decimated by the genocide perpetrated on them by America. And against great odds they resisted, and although many perished they stood strong and proud and resisted the efforts to subjugate them.
Slavery in America was for economic reasons and the nation benefitted financially from it. They created a division between the races and yet we survived and overcame the institution of slavery.
The womens Suffrage Movement began in 1913 it was a bold move for women who were viewed as little more than an appendage to men and held a slightly better status than African Americans.
1932 Bonus March on Washington mirrors todays Occupy WallStreet Movement
African Americans after centuries of slavery, decades of the Black Codes and the practice of re enslavement of blacks to big business such as railroads, mining companies where Blacks were arrested on petty charges or having committed no crime at all, such as having an outstanding debt called at a whim, loitering, walking after dark were picked up by local police and then sold as slave labor to Corporations. This re enslavement was all conducted with the knowledge of our Government, later we had Jim Crow Laws and segregation. Finally Black, African American, Whites, Hispanics, and every other race and group Protested and we had the Civil Rights Movement!
Protest from the beginning of this nation has been a powerful tool to bring attention to our plight they have rarely been violent, except for the over reaction of the police. But the protest have always caused discomfort to the greater community and that is the purpose of the protest because without the inconvenience nothing changes.
The destruction of the American Unions is only one of the tactics Corporation and the Republican Party has used to subjugate the majority of the American Population.
Around the world protest surge. This is not a random event people everywhere are feeling the social injustice and oppressive hand of Corporations and the corruption of their government. A dawning of the New World Order where we are slaves to large Corporations oversaw by our respective governments.
Connection between the takeover of our Government and Corporate Greed!
